Synchronize ITunes Music with Android devices using doubleTwist (PC)

1. Search for and download “doubleTwist” in the Android Market. Upon first launch, the application can email Mac/PC download links for to you. Tap “Continue” to continue to the main screen.

2. Download and install doubleTwist for Mac/PC

3. On first launch, doubleTwist will scan and import your iTunes library into the doubleTwist library.

4. To import your iTunes playlists, click on “Playlist Setup” in the left hand navigation bar within doubleTwist. Then click on “Import” in the main navigation area. Your iTunes playlists will then be imported.

5. Next, connect your phone to your computer. For best results, please only use the USB cable that your phone manufacturer supplied.

6. Drag the status bar down to set the USB connection type. The options displayed in your status bar will vary from Android device to Android device.

7. This USB connection type screen will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. HTC labels it “Disk drive” mode whereas other manufacturers use “Use USB storage” or “USB Mass Storage”. After selection of drive/storage mode, you may see an AutoPlay dialog box displayed on your PC.

8. The Android device is now mounted as a drive on your PC. (This is an important step as the doubleTwist application will not recognize your device unless it also shows up as a drive on your PC.)

9. With your Android device connected to your PC and appearing as a drive, you can now setup the sync process.

10. The doubleTwist application now recognizes your Android device and displays it in the left hand navigation.

11. Click on the checkbox next to “Music” in the main navigation screen to sync all music in your library. You can also sync only selected playlists by clicking on “Choose playlists”.

12. Click “Sync” to begin the sync process. Do not disconnect your Android device during the sync process or your device’s file system may be corrupted. The synced music is now on your Android device. You can view the list by clicking on “Music” under the device in the left hand navigation.

13. Disconnect your Android device by using the “Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media” option.

14. The synced music and playlists now appears in doubleTwist for Android.

12. Disconnect your Android device by right clicking over it and then selecting the “Eject” option.

Synchronize iTunes Music with a BlackBerry device using BlackBerry Desktop Manager

Using BlackBerry Media Sync, you can synchronize specific iTunes playlists and Windows Media Player playlists to your BlackBerry device or a random selection of your songs that are not in a playlist. Before you begin: To perform this task, mass storage mode must be turned on.

1. Connect your device to your computer.

2. On your computer, open the BlackBerry® Desktop Manager.

3. Cick the Media icon.

4. In the BlackBerry Media Sync section, click the Launch tab.

5. If necessary, in the drop-down list, select your music application.

6. Perform one of the following actions: To synchronize specific playlists, select the check box beside one or more playlists. To synchronize a random selection of your songs, select the Fill available space with random music check box. Available space does not include the reserved space. To synchronize specific playlists as well as a random selection of your songs, select the check box beside one or more playlists. Select the Fill available space with random music check box. Available space does not include the reserved space.

7. Click Sync Music.

8. Click OK.

9. Disconnect your device from your computer.

How to setup Shaw email on the iPhone

There has been a recent change to the Shaw email system that allows Shaw customers to easily setup email on the iPhone and other mobile devices. This change allows Shaw customers to seamlessly send and receive email whether connected to WiFi or a wireless service provider.

How do I set this up?

1. Go to https://webmail.shaw.ca/uwc/auth and log in.


2. Click Preferences, Mobile Access, and then Enabled.


Once you have enabled Mobile Access, follow the steps below:

From your iPhone / iPad

Tap the Settings icon on the Home screen.
Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Select Add Account…
Select Other.
Select Add Mail Account and enter your account information.
Select Next.
Choose the POP account button.
Enter the following information in the spaces provided under Incoming Mail Server:
Host Name – Enter pop.shaw.ca
User Name – Your Shaw email address without the @shaw.ca
Password – Enter your email password.
Enter the following information in the spaces provided under Outgoing Mail Server:
Host Name – Enter mail.shaw.ca
User Name – Your Shaw email address without the @shaw.ca
Password – Enter your email password.

10. Click Save.

You will see a message: ‘Cannot Connect Using SSL’ – select Yes.

How to Backup and Restore your iPhone

Restoring your device will erase all data from your iPhone, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, calendar information, and any other data. All iPhone settings are restored to their factory condition.
Whenever you restore your iPhone, Apple highly recommends that you perform a sync prior to restoring in order to back up any changes since your last sync.

How to Backup your iPhone

1) In iTunes, check Preferences > Devices to check the date and time of your latest backup.
2) If you do not have a recent backup, create one by right-clicking the device in the source list and choosing Back Up.

Use the Following Steps to Restore your iPhone:1) Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed and running before attempting to update.
2) Connect your iPhone to your computer.
3) Select your iPhone when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
4) Select the Summary tab..
5) Select the Restore option.
6) When prompted to back up your iPhone settings before restoring, select the Back Up option. If have just backed up the device, it is not necessary to create another.
7) Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (As long as you've backed up your device, you should not have to worry about restoring your phone).
8) Once the restore process has completed the iPhone restarts and displays the Apple logo while starting up.
For the iPhone only, after a restore, the iPhone displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. Keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or you see "iPhone is activated." If iTunes does not have an Internet connection, you cannot complete this step.
9) Select the back up you want for your iPhone (select "as new") and select the Continue button in order to complete your device's restoration.

How to Register/Unbrick your iPhone

 Before you begin using your iPhone it is necessary to register your iPhone with Apple through iTunes. Follow these steps to registering your iPhone:

   1. Open iTunes on your computer.

    Note: We recommend that you have the latest version of iTunes installed. If you do not have iTunes on your computer and wish to download it, click here.

    2. Insert you SIM card into your iPhone.
    3. Connect your iPhone to your computer with the USB cable that came with it.
    4. iTunes should prompt you to begin the activation process, click continue.
    5. You should be prompted with the license agreement. Click accept to continue.
    6. You will now be asked to register your iPhone. If you already have an Apple ID you can enter it, otherwise choose to create an Apple ID. You will need an existing Email address in order to create an Apple ID.
    7. After creating your ID, you will be prompted to begin your initial sync with iTunes.
