Faster than the speed of Cydia!

Jay Freeman, aka ‘Saurik’ has updated Cydia to a newer and faster version. Introducing Cydia 1.1!! Saurik announced on Twitter: Cydia 1.1: faster, slimmer, and more stable; including an improved search algorithm and “resume where you left off”. Available in Cydia now!

Here is a quick installation tutorial for Cydia 1.1

1. Launch Cydia. Tap on the Changes tab along the bottom.
2. You’ll see upgrades available for Cydia Installer. Tap Upgrade and Cydia 1.1 will install.

3. Once the install completes, tap the ‘Close Cydia (Restart)’ message. Upon reloading Cydia, you should see 1.1 in the bottom right on the main page.

Saurik notes that Cydia 1.1 will remove older default packages, which is normal. Repositories aren’t deleted, they are just managed differently.

Currently, third-party repos are having trouble keeping up with the huge “1.1 rush”, according to Saurik on twitter:

Apparently the “1.1 rush” (130,000 users in 3 hours) is hammering many third-party repositories (like BigBoss): please be patient with them.

iOS 4.3.1 Jailbreak

Since the release of iOS 4.3.1 everyone has been strongly anticipating a new jailbreak. We know the iPhone Dev-Team are working diligently on a Jailbreak along with others. Recently, Stefan Esser, aka @i0n1c demonstrated an untethered iOS 4.3 jailbreak earlier on his iPad. He also uploaded a youtube video demonstrating his exploit using sn0wbreeze 2.4 on an iPod Touch 4G. Unfortunately a release date has not been made public at this time.

OS 4.3 Now Available

As most of you may know Apple released OS 4.3 early. The original launch date was to be March 11 2011.

If you have a jailbroken device or unlocked, as always, do not upgrade to the 4.3 OS or you will lose your Jailbreak and Unlock.

The Jailbreak teams are working diligently and anticipate a new Jailbreak for this OS very soon. Although no release date has been announced, the buzz seems to be leaning towards a quick resolution for this OS.

Be patient, as always, our hard working Jailbreak Teams such as the iPhone Dev Team and the Chronic Dev Team, or even George Hotz aka: GeoHot (If he has time outside of defending himself against the lawsuit from Playstation) we will have a jailbreak very soon!!
